thx for your patience and sorry that i bothered you.
under 1.13.25 tar runs very well.
i answer so late, because the command runs five hour's (if i zip) - so
the test needs much time...
but if it's interresting for u, here's the problem, that was under
1-13.18 in other words:
i use tar and onstream ADR2.120 to backup.
the tapes are 30/60GB
until yet the ammount of data to backup was under 30GB, now it's about 32GB.
here's the result under tar 1.13.18:
tar -c -b 64... - tape full
tar -cz -b 64... - I/O error after about 5 hours.
tar --block-compress -cz -b 64 - success after a bit more than before,
but "obsolete" message...
now, under tar 1.13.25 there's success with 'tar -cz -b64'.
