Hi,

at my first computer with gcc-3.2 and glibc-2.2.5 compiled with an older
gcc-version configure hangs with

checking for Java to native code compiler...

Top shows me for at least 10 minutes, that conftest needs 99.4% of CPU.

At the second computer with gcc-3.2, glibc-2.2.5 and j2sdk1.4.0 also
compiled with gcc-3.2 make failes with:

Making all in intl-java
make[2]: Entering directory `/usr/src_cat/Libs/gettext-0.11.5/intl-java'
/bin/sh ../lib/javacomp.sh -d . ./gnu/gettext/GettextResource.java
There was an error trying to initialize the HPI library.
Please check your installation, HotSpot does not work correctly
when installed in the JDK 1.2 Linux Production Release, or
with any JDK 1.1.x release.
Could not create the Java virtual machine.

Also with java-1.3.1, which was installed before, came some java
specific error.

Do you have any hint for me?

        Juergen
