I'm using Mandrake cooker (devel version) with gettext 0.11.2
Two issues:
In po/Makefile.in.in $top_builddir is used but never set.
$top_builddir = @top_builddir@
fixes this.
gettexize adds this to the ChangeLog, why not fix configure.ac too?

* Makefile.am (SUBDIRS): Add m4.
(ACLOCAL_AMFLAGS): New variable.
* configure.in (AC_OUTPUT): Add intl/Makefile, m4/Makefile.
