How could it be that the pr command, with its rats nest of options,
doesn't offer a way to tell it "I love your headers, but don't want
any trailers"? "No need to waste my paper roll with your trailers,
thanks."

Do not print the usual header [and footer] on each page, and do
not fill out the bottom of pages (with blank lines or a form
feed)...
See, if you don't want the bottoms, then you have to give up the tops
too. How authoritarian.
Sigh. I guess I have to use
$ pr -f 7-??.txt|perl -wple 's/\f/\n\n/;'
to get something that looks good and doesn't waste the paper roll.
