Dear collegues,

We are producing SW for a MIPS target machine. The development is done in a SUN
Solaris and after successful production on SUN it will be produced on the MIPS
target.

After an update of the source codes the sun production works quite fine but the
production on the MIPS machine stops during linking and gives the reply:

---------- begin ------------
/home/VIEW/REL_AGENT_V2.0_WD06_LOAD_09_FU/path1/om/int/lockclass-ews/locklib.a
-lsocket -lnsl -lelf -ldl conf_spec.o lib_spec.o
ld: agent: system error: ld internal error: can't find local got at relocation
entry [378845] in section .text of file /usr/tmp/ctmpoa002at
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
gmake: *** [prelink] Error 1
----------- end --------------

We use a gnu compiler 2.95.2 and the linker of the MIPS machine

Updates have been done at 5 packages for this version of the target load.

To get more info of the problem :
- We started with the previous version and added package 1: we got successful
production. :-)
- We added package 1 plus 2 : we got the error as we get with all the updates
entered :-(
- we removed one code part in package 2 where a function has been declared that
is not (yet) used / defined later on we get again a working production.

- We added package 3 to the previous version and got the error again :-(

Can you give us a help / idea how to find out the problem - either in the
linker or whereever ?

Do we have to remove all new code lines and add them step by step for a
production to get the errors out ?
The error occurs about 2 hours (!) after production start. The successful
priduction lasts abouit 2.5 hours at the MIPS machine.
(On SUN it lasts about 20 minutes.)

Please send us (to me or one on my collegues in CC:) an idea that helps us
finding and removing the problem.

Many thanks and

Best regards
