Please trying downloading and compiling from

ftp://alpha.gnu.org/pub/gnu/finger/finger-1.39a5.tar.gz

I believe this release fixes the build problems of GNU Finger 1.37 on
GNU/Linux platforms.

Please let me know how you get on.
