recursive grep problems with Gnu grep 2.4.1 and 2.4.2 |

Hi
As a great fan of the recursive feature of Gnu grep, ( grep -r ) I tried to set
up my Solaris 2.6 environment to use Gnu grep 2.4.2
Download, configuration and make proceeded happily with no special options or
measures taken. However, the resulting binary gives errors when traversing large
trees, thus:
grep -r quip /etc/*
results in:
Segmentation fault
Setting up Gnu grep 2.4.1 in the same way I get:
Bus error
But Gnu grep 2.4 and 2.3 work fine.
Not being a C programmer or a Systems administrator (I don't even use the
Solaris root account) this is as far as I can conveniently debug, but I hope
this helps someone duplicate/ascertain/fix an apparent bug.
