Segv Fault in GNU tar |

Hello,
I think I've found a bug in GNU tar. I use Amanda to do backups
in may network. When Amanda starts up, it first gets estimates
of the size of the dumps using the commands
cd /usr/local/abacus
tar --create --file /dev/null --directory /usr/local/abacus \
--listed-incremental /var/lib/amanda/gnutar-lits/tpl_usr_local_amanda_0.new
\
--sparxe --ignore-failed-read --totals .
On a Linux Box (SuSE 7.3, Kernel 2.4.10, glic 2.2.4), his works
as long as the output (written to /dev/null) is not larger than
4GB. As soon as it becomes larger than 4GB, GNU tar seg faults,
which to amanda means that the disk is offline, and no backup is
performed. I also tried some other systems, but could not repro-
duce this behavior neither on Solaris 2.6 nor on FreeBSD 4.1.
Any suggestions how I could fix this.
Mit herzlichem Gruss
Andreas Mueller
