I have a cron script that makes a nightly image of my files.
The csh command goes something like:
tar cvfX - NoBackup.lst ~ | gzip -c -9 >! MyBackup.tgz
This used to work fine, but lately I've been getting CRC errors from
gunzip:
gunzip -c -9 MyBackup.tgz | tar xvf - FilesOfInterest
The zipped file is almost 600Mbytes, and both gzip and gunzip versions
are
gzip 1.2.4 (18 Aug 93)The solaris operating system is
Compilation options:
DIRENT UTIME STDC_HEADERS HAVE_UNISTD_H
SunOS mali 5.8 Generic_108528-09 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-5_10Any ideas on how to start tracking down the problem?
Thanks.
Fred
