I was compiling qt-3.0 beta 5 using gcc-3.01, glibc-2.2.4,
linux-2.4.10-pre8-xfs(patched for SGI XFS filesystem) with an
AMD 800Mhz Duron/Asus A7v133 mainboard system. The compile instructions for
qt-3.0 beta 5 are to use 'gmake'.
During the compile, there was a segfault in gcc-3.01 suggesting I file a bug
report. I wasn't gonna let that stop me from trying
'gmake' again...well, what do you know...the same error. So in my frustration
with such large compile, I said what the hell, and
typed 'make'...whadaya know...it kept right on going from where it left off!
And here's the funny thing, gmake is a symlink to
make anyhow! GO figure! Any idea why this happened? I thought it was a
digicough(digital hiccough), but the second time pretty
much ruled that out with gmake. Something strange happened...twilight zone
compiling? Bermuda triangle code? What is it? Did gcc
not like my symlink? Was Qt the culprit??? hmmmm.....anyhoo...qt compiled
successfully!
