I know about this, and deliberately left the current compiled-in
defaults as they were.  The reason for this is that Gawk, being a
package that makes sense on its own, might well be installed on a
system without the rest of DJGPP, in which case /dev/env/DJDIR will
not work.  OTOH, if DJGPP _is_ installed, the djgpp.env file already
takes care of the few Gawk-related environment variables.  So it
looked to me that changing the compiled-in defaults wasn't a good
idea.
