A question about Autoconf .

Hello ! 
   First of ALL , I must thank you for your GCC, GDB, Gnome, Autoconf ..... 
   I have a question about Autoconf , What is rule of  return vaule of 
"configure" 
script that autoconf produce ? Return 0 mean it succeesfully finish, what 
return when it 
error , only 1(one)? if it return other vaule , What mean? May write it into 
info format
document?
   I writing a "configure"( Autoconf ) GUI front for end user( may also for 
programmer in 
future ) , Of course , it under GPL, so I need above information.
