Hello all,
I am co-maintainer of the linuxfromscratch.org-project and got annoyed
of a problem we have with gettext for a while now.
When installing gettext-0.10.35 the following way:
./configure --prefix=/usr &&
make &&
make install
There always is a new file created in /: /po-mode.el.
At the moment we
mv /po-mode.el /usr/share/gettext
the file afterwards, but I think this is a workaround that should not be
necessary.
As far as I understand the description, po-mode.el is used to edit
po-files in emacs. We don't have emacs on our system (though others
might install it) so this file is not really necessary and could be
deleted, correct?
Anyway - that would be a workaround too - the real question should be:
Why is it installed anyway?
Greetings from Muenster/Germany
Balu
PS: perhaps there is a ./configure-switch we didn't notice yet?
PPS: Please also reply to me personally - not only to the list.
