I am trying to gzip a file that is 5 gigabytes; however, gzip tells me
the value is too large for defined data type. Is there a limit on how
large a file gzip can compress.
Thanks,
Michael Anderson
gzip version: gzip 1.2.4 (18 Aug 93)
compiler: gcc 2.8.1
os: Solaris 2.7
command: gzip my_file
error: my_file: Value too large for defined data type
