File name problem? |

When I run Solaris 2.6 tar (/usr/sbin/tar) on the file
"drifacs.20001010:10:45:15 it un-tars the file which was put in there.
When I run GNU Tar "tar (GNU tar) 1.12" it looks at the first part of the
file name as a host name and dies.
Is this a "Bug" or a "Feature"? And for which of the two is it a
bug/feature? I don't know who is deviating from "defined" behavior. Any
help?
