I tried rebuilding glibc-2.1.3 from native i586-pc-linux-gnu. The
build always broke with a segfault when the built dynamic linker
(ld-linux.so.2) was first run.
I was using gcc-2.95.2 (release). The linker was ld from
binutils-2.10, first with all targets enabled and then just with
normal linux-i386 elf.
The problem can be solved in two ways: by using no optimisations in
CFLAGS or by downgrading to binutils-2.9.1, which is why I'm
mentioning it to the binutils people.
I didn't spot anything about this on the net, so perhaps it could be
included in the glibc FAQ?
