Details:

For numeric variables, it should be possible to specify a value by putting a
formatted value in quotes (especially useful for date formats).  This should
be done by generalizing parse_number from range-parser.c to handle any
variable type.

SPSS 15 translates \n in strings into new-lines.  I don't know yet whether
this happens at assignment or at use (what appears in .sav files?)
