Details:

SPSS documents that lines with BEGIN DATA...END DATA are limited to 80
characters and actually truncates them to enforce it.  Some versions also
enforce  an 80-character lines in syntax lines.  (We should find out whether
this is true of the most recent versions.)  We should enforce similar limits
in compatible syntax mode.
