You might want to consider putting the question in the body of the
message, rather than the subject, in the future. Might save some
confusion.
Answer: no, it's quite good at editing system files, actually, and I use
it that way all the time. However, if you're in single-user mode you
may find it more difficult and unwieldy to use, if not downright
impossible. As long as you're root, it works great.
