The rings were put in about a century ago when carriages and buggies and other horse-drawn conveyances clogged the streets of Portland. Of course if you have been at a previous event, still, you'll want to come. The whole errand took about an hour and a half, likely the same time it would have took in the car, and my body has never felt so fit.
I'm knitting the blanket I've been wanting to make for the past year. It's a little nutty and fantastic for mornings. Today I was a hard charger, sprinting the four miles downtown on my bike to pay our water bill, then running two miles on the Eastside Esplanade before hitting the bank and returning home. I started it Wednesday, finished it on Sunday.
And we went to the kick-off event at Pioneer Square today and oh, was I right!
We sold a few t-shirts and one plate of bacon and eggs. If I'm going to a meeting or on an errand without the kids, I pick the bike. I knitted through labor. Yesterday when I kept hitting "more options" on the trip planner feature on Tri-Met, I kept wishing for a little car.
I'm knitting here, there and everywhere.
I draft and outline in my head. It's deliciously fun to travel but I see it now through the eyes of my children.
As much as I love the kids and think it's great we can pull them in their cute hand-me-down trailer, my heart belongs to the solo bike ride. When it hits, I'm knitting all the time, starting and finishing projects with passion and single-minded focus.
He looked at me, mischievious, cute as all get-out, and waited until the door opened. Let's just say we missed the bus. And when have I been early for anything?
At others, the baristas seemed downright angry that I'd brought Everett.
Film has a connectedness with light, chemistry, earth, history, tangibility.
