[Bug-gne]Ask about pdf417_enc.c

Dear sir,
My name is Wara Srichaveng,I live in Thailand.
 I go to sourceforge.net and already download PDF417_enc.c 
Now I use visual C++  I have some question to ask you about the following

Now I download gif_lib.h and save it to 
vc98\include\gif_lib.h and comment out #define DO_GIFS 
and I build .exe file but it have error like this 

Linking...
pdf417_enc.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _random
Debug/pdf417_enc.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 1 unresolved externals
Error executing link.exe.

pdf417_enc.exe - 2 error(s), 0 warning(s)

I want to ask you If you ever try to compile on window.Where to edit in 
sourcource and 
I want to ask you about how to use Makefile.nogif 
and Do you know how to debug above error.
