No I'm not really saying limit the number of voters
too much. But I do think that any person who found the
site shouldn't be able to vote straight off otherwise
we could end up with lots of people emptying their
cache + cookies, changing IP and voting again to get
their advert into the resource. It would happen.

How do we magically get an international audience? At
the moment we just have people from western Europe and
the more developed areas of the Americas. Hardly an
unbiased community! As it develops, we're not likely
to get too many Chinese or Moroccans are we? Certainly
not compared to the number of western europeans! So if
we allow voting in the near future, it will inevitably
bring in unacceptable amounts of bias.

As for open-source projects, so what? They're
irrelevant in the context because intellectual and
political bias won't affect much how well you make a
utility in Perl will it? What is important is
progressing quickly with a common goal. But here in
GNE, preventing bias is paramount, and we all know
this will no doubt take longer than our lifetimes to
get close to completion.
