I don't think the viruses have anything to do with it. Everybody on a list
shares the risk of receiving viruses and today everybody should know that
it's suicide or russian roulette to open exe files..
Neither do I think it's a matter of renaming the list.
But I share Tom's opinion. I think there was too much confusion about what
is going on know. First the list renamed to GNE. This was a strict
distinction "Gne is not Nupedia". And then you told us big decisions were
made. and then there was silence. The first decision I definitely heard
was not on Bug but on Info saying RMS thinks of joining both projects.
The last statements I reached were only support Nupedia and keep your
aricles to resend them to GNE.
Don't misunderstand me. I'm not against Nupedia. I'm just on the list
hoping there will occur a task which might be done from Munich in my
sparetime, so I could contribute a little, because I like theidea of a
global free enzyclopedia. So it does not matter if I try to help Nupedia
or Gne to me. But I prefer helping GNE because I profited the last years
of the efforts of GNU and also want to return a little. I did not profit
from Nupedia (yet). And that's the reason why I am still on the list. I
don't want to start working for Nupedia as long as it is not decided, if
GNE would revive.
On the other hand the statements of support nupedia and decisions are
made and then no statements at all any more did confuse me too. So I think
this is the reason why it's so quiet now. I tink we are all a little
confused.
