Why?

It's not because ``we don't like them'' but because the formats are
non-free. If Microsoft were to freely release the specification for
their file format, then there would be no problem for GNE to accept
submissions in that format (despite the fact that Word itself would
remain non-free).

I don't think anyone has suggested making GNE anti-Microsoft, nor
suggested putting ``don't use Word'' on the front page.

I am not against Microsoft.

Just as we won't use non-free software like Windows and IIS to serve
the content, nor should be accept content in non-free formats.
