i've no idea what's going on here.
there are two projects both producing freely-available knowledge.
due to the noneditorial, decentralized nature of gnupedia (al least it
was what i read from rms announcement) it is ok to have two separate
projects. there are different philosophies.
but if you dont want to
have any editorial control over the articles - you just don't need
(or only *very* little)this whole database and format stuff. if you
want to control, manipulate, judge, and peer-review the articles ->
join nupedia.
you are talking about servers for the articles -> for what do you need
this capacities?! let the article-writer write the artciles, maintain
the articles, and find a place for them.
you want to store the articles centrally? ->
join nupedia.
the only thing you might need is a "center for url-topic-pairs" so
that when i refer in my article to eg. the first punian-war, i can easily
link my article to something about this war.
you want to establish an infrastructure? ->
join nupedia

they have the servers, they have the software, they have the
*contributors+, they have a year experience and they have the good will.

the name "gnu" mobilizes many peoples - don't waste that potential!
there is no place for egos.
nupedia is a very important project - maybe it will become a kind of
"reference " for the loosly spread articles and opinions in gnupedia.
and maybe it will be a kind of "encyclopedia britannica" and gnupedia
will become nothing.

i will publish articles with the ideas of gnupedia in mind -> because
that's the way i feel: desorganized.

have some fun

ps. i also prefer the name GNE
