The question must be raised --
1. Since Nupedia is totally GFDL and GPL
2. and since I have made every effort to say that Hector can have all the
freedom and control he wants to develop whatever he wants under our banner
then what _motive_ does RMS have in attempting to fork the projects anyway?
I am very angry right now because I thought we reached an agreement yesterday.
I think that a fork is a very bad idea, and I think that the community (the
_entire_ community, all us together) is not being respected by RMS and Hector...
they are seeking to break apart what should be a unity... and for what motives,
I do not know.
If this insane course -- of breaking the project in two for no reason -- is
pursued, and if the community agrees with it, then so be it. But I do not
think it should be forced on us, top down, when we have done so much work to
find togetherness.
I hope that the community will speak with one voice -- divisiveness is bad,
co-operation is good, freedom is good.
I find it really absurd that Hector is talking about looking for a
company to donate servers, when you have me standing here proclaiming
loudly for several days that I am here to provide you with everything
you need -- servers, 3000+ volunteers, a one year head start. Even if
_ego_ is the motive, I don't understand it because Hector is being
offered everything that he's ever asked for -- and more!
I hope that the community will treat this proposal for what it is -- a bad idea.
