In general, I agree. If we specify some simple guidelines, much of the
mark-up can be generated by a script, I think, without too many
problems.  Obviously, a real person looking over it after would be a
Good Thing. This would only really work for relatively simple
articles.

For complicated articles with references and images and the like,
submitting in TEI is ideal but using something like LaTeX might be
made manageable if it wasn't terribly complicated LaTeX.
