I like the decision to use XML as a submission format. Also, I agree
that the question of the submission format takes a high priority,
because this is what we will have to iron out in order to get people
to actually make contributions. The question of the internal structure
of the repository is a large issue, but we it shouldn't overshadow the
goal of starting the submissions process as soon as possible.
The body_contents section of the xml document should be able to
contain as many as possible of the standard file formats that writers are
familiar with. Examples: plain text, HTML, latex. Hence, there should
be a field that indicates the type of the body_contents. At the very
least, popular formats which are well-supported on a standard GNU/Linux
distribution, e.g. latex, should be acceptable as input.
