I would like to invite everyone on this list to think
of themselves as part of Nupedia, starting _now_. At
Nupedia, we have no vested interest in doing things "our
way" versus "your way". We are very strongly of the belief
that there should be _one community_... _YOUR_ community.

Please keep in mind that this 'split' was all the result of
an accident in the first place. Simply imagine that you
heard (as you would have, had some wires not been crossed)
of Nupedia, a fully free project looking for volunteers.

We're here, and we're ready, and we are at ground zero for
YOU to come in and do things YOUR WAY, _at Nupedia_.

Nupedia currently has in place over 3,000 volunteers working
very hard at creating and editing content. We have systems
in place which can and SHOULD BE replaced. We are open to
all ideas.

1. We are fully GPL and GFDL.

2. We are totally in agreement with the spirit of openness of the
'gnupedia' list, so that there is no need to think of these things as
being separate at all. We will make total room for everyone. The
idea that 'gnupedia' is broad, and 'nupedia' is narrow, is simply
mistaken. Nupedia has both, and will of course adopt whatever
codebase for submissions/filtering that WE (the combined community)
can come up with.

3. I have offered to Hector to take complete technical control of
the Nupedia project -- he can implement his ideas, and the ideas of
the _combined_ community. I don't know of any reason at all that
he should say no -- he gets to lead the combined project's technical
development _from scratch_, based on _everyone's_ ideas and input.

4. From a technical point of view, I have seen a great many good
ideas coming from the 'gnupedia' list -- and they are the SAME ideas
(more or less) as we worked out on the Nupedia tools-l list. We are
all in rough agreement as to what is to be done.

I would like to invite everyone to stop thinking of separate
projects.

My current plan is to eliminate the fork by simply _giving you everything
you want_. Whatever your complaint is about Nupedia, we will change.

The only thing that we ask is that you respect that we are an open community,
and that we seek to end _any_ split of _any_ kind. People who deliberately
try to create conflict where there is none should be regarded, I think, as
mere troublemakers. Let's not let that happen.
