I wouldn't necessarily think that e-mail was the *best* option either.
But can't it be an option for starters and then we can ramp up to better alternatives from there? At least with e-mail we can semi-confirm the e-mail address of the sender.

And if the parser which is located at that e-mail address is rejecting submissions that aren't in the correct format then doesn't that solve the issue of submission being received in the incorrect format? And also verify the required information?

By the way is everyone decided now that the first step in this whole process is standardizing on the Article Submission methodology?

Email is *not* definitelly the best option. In this week we had some troubles with that (people send them in any format, without the required basic information, etc). We are going to keep that method, but I think we shall start giving a more user-friendly submission method.
