My ideas on what a basic article would contain,

<Title>

This would contain a short title of the article, including basic classification
data.

<Summary>

A couple of lines in summary of the full article, could be displayed by engines
searching the encyclopedia. This section should be non-compulsory.

<Article type>

The categorization of the article type for instance,

Technical (is a technically involved article)
Biography (is a biographical article)
Children (is aimed at children)
Long (Long article)
Short (Short article)
etc.

A list of common types could be drawn up to be used, authors of articles
should be free to come up wit their own categorizations, is a certain type of
categorization becomes popular it could be added to the list of common types.

<author-ids>

list of the IDs of authors, should give the list in the same order as authors
have
signed the article.

<authors>

A list of the authors of the article in human readable form.

<revision date>

A last update date so readers can know when an article may be out of date.

(we should standardize the date format dd/mm/yyyy or mm/dd/yyyy)

<article ID>

A fingerprint of the article + revision date. The fingerprint should be taken
from
the first version of the article and kept for all revisions.

If a revision breaks away significantly from a previous article it should be
given a
new fingerprint and version number.

<previous article ID>

If an article based upon another is given a new article-ID it should also
include a
link to the article it was based upon.

<actual article>

The actual content goes here.

<Links to related encyclopedia articles>

Links to related articles by article-ID.

<bibliography>

Related Books/websites.

We should allows tags like <author> ,<title>, <publisher> and <year> in here.

<author signatures>

Digitally signed (probably by gpg)

An example article in this system:
