That's a *missed opportunity*? I disagree. The world needs more such
freely-sharable information, and I applaud the Nupedia project for
their efforts towards the goal of a freely sharable encyclopedia. A
well-edited yet copyright-free encyclopedia is a laudable goal indeed.

I don't disagree. There is value in having a repository of
freely-sharable information such as what many here want Gnupedia to
become. It think, however, it is misleading to call such a thing an
encyclopedia.

I like the previous suggestion of having this project concentrate on
tools and the Nupedia project concentrate on content (for now). Then,
when a bunch of good tools for storing, retrieving and filtering
content are available, contributers to this ``gnu-library''
(GNUbrary?) can be sought.

I like both projects and both approaches; each has merit in a
