GNATS keeps an index file to make searching quicker. Backup the file 
gnats-adm/index, and regenerate the index by doing (you'll need to adjust 
this to fit your installation):

/usr/local/libexec/gnats/gen-index -d path/to/database > 
/path/to/database/gnats-adm/index
