Yes, this has been discussed before.
I suggest that you use GMP 4.0 instead, as announced here earlier
today. It lives in <ftp://multivac.fatburen.org/pub/gmp/> for now,
since the FSF folks have failed to upload it to ftp.gnu.org.
Please check the GMP web pages <http://swox.com/gmp/> for verifying
the authenticity of the tar files.
