If '+' means both of 'addition' and 'change', you need to call stat()
to distinguish them, I think.

Please let me ask again in another way as follows.
Does file1.cpp exist at the time of the test?
Does file2.cpp exist at the time of the test?
Does file3.cpp exist at the time of the test?
Does file4.cpp exist at the time of the test?
