Thank you.
That thread from the other group seems like some very timely information. I
posted on bug-ghostscript because my investigations have been based on the GNU
distribution, but I suppose that correspondence at ghostscript.com is just as
relevant.
As you guess, I am interested in writing a vector driver. The target
environment is a legacy e-document presentation system that handles a variety
of input formats including AFP, PCL, and (in a very limited fashion)
Postscript. The system's "normalized" internal representation for documents is
vector-based and pre-dates anything that might be considered if it were
re-implemented today.
In investigating Ghostscript, I understand its driver-based architecture and
that it is feasible to implement a high-level, vector driver for this system.
My original question was based on the additional understanding that Ghostscript
is capable of handling PCL and PDF input, in addition to Postscript. If that is
the case, is it feasible to implement a single "back-end" driver and use it
effectively for all three of these input formats?
It would seem that the answer is "yes", but I was testing my own understanding
of the potential Ghostscript solution.
Thanks again.
