Details:

GForth versions: 0.7.3, GIT head (didn't try older ones)
Host: Cygwin 32bit

"make doc" fails to build doc/gforth.dvi.  

That happens because the script texi2dvi4a2ps (of a2ps 4.14, script taken from
Texinfo 4.1) fails, as it sees "doc/gforth.ds" and believes it to be a texinfo
index file, which it isn't.

The most obvious fix would be to rename the file to something like
doc/gforth.texi.in.  That would have been a Very Bad Idea while you were still
using CVS, but it appears feasible in git.
