sort problem with findutils on AIX 5.1

I'm experiencing a sort error when I run updatedb, from the
findutils-4.4.0-1.aix5.1.ppc.rpm 
any suggestion?
 
=> # /usr/local/bin/updatedb
sort: 0653-657 A write error occurred while sorting.
