Error in 'dircolors.c' while building fileutils statically.

Subject: Error in 'dircolors.c' while building fileutils statically.

I’m trying to compile fileutils statically, without nls. I used the
commands:
------------------------------------------
./configure --disable-nls
make LDFLAGS=-static
------------------------------------------

The configure command gives no errors, but when I run make I get this error
output:
------------------------------------------
...
Making all in src

make: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2
------------------------------------------

Fileutils is version 4.0 and I’m running Mandrake 8.0.

I read the README file and the INSTALL file, but no luck. I’ve also
searched
google, but no luck there either. I even opened the dircolors.c and had a lock
inside, but as the hopeless C programmer I am, I didn’t understand much.

If anyone could give me a pointer to how I could solve this problem that would
be greatly appreciated.
