okay, but what about

"Instead, use a run time option..." ?

Again, I think ls would be really enough.
We should try to integrate old dos users,
but still remember we are a Un*x like system
and not dos. It seems to me that we spam our
harddisk with unecessary binaries! If egrep/grep are
also the same, I am wondering how many MBs of my hd
are lost!

What I mean is not only the practical side. If we go on
replicating binaries just to change an option, where will we end ?
