I'll make a double clone of the data recovered here and try the manual merge, but I'll also be quite interested to see Antonio's --shift option too. For now the drive is still reading ( even without the partition table being read, thankfully still accessible! ), so I'll let it run until I'm ready to migrate data across to the client's new drive.
I have just released ddrescue-1.23-pre2 with the new --sift option: http://download-mirror.savannah.gnu.org/releases/ddrescue/ddrescue-1.23-pre2.tar.lz '--shift' Shift the positions of all the blocks in MAPFILE by the offset ('--output-position' - '--input-position'), and write the resulting mapfile to standard output. Either '--input-position' or '--output-position' must be 0. If the offset is positive, a non-tried block is inserted before the first block. Any blocks beyond the end of the rescue domain are removed before performing the shift. Hope this helps, and use with care. I have barely tested it. Best regards, Antonio.
