Thank you for a wonderful tool.
ddrescue -f -n /dev/hda /dev/hdb logfile
I noticed I can't write a logfile to_/dev/hdb2/logfile_, but I CAN write
to_/MEDIA/hdb2/logfile_ (Yes, DUH, I know, but)
This is the sort of thing ONLY a noob would do, but useful feedback for better
Documentation, for just that reason, I hope.
I've been using Knoppix to do magic windows feats for years, but I really don't
know what I'm doing.....
Also, do any of the drives need to be mounted? The faulty drive was taking a
very long time to mount in gparted so I closed gparted
and just ran ddrescue-seems to be running ok...
Does mounting matter when usingdirect disc access?
"So simple, so very simple, that only a child can do it." (New Math, Tom
Lehrer)
Hope this helps somebody.
