Two questions, what can I do to try and hone in on the errsize: 48523 MB on 1st Run below? I've got my log file, but i'm not sure what i'm supposed to do that. I've found no (*) it. I took this to mean that ddrescue skipped huge portions of data. For my second run, i've reduced the cluster size from the default 128 to 10. I'm not sure the result of this yet, though. Lastly, how do you know where to focus your efforts using --input-position=500MB switch? Do you choose this arbitrarily or what? 1st Run: ddrescue -v -n -d /dev/sdc3 ~zwilson/sdc3.img ~zwilson/sdc3_ddrescue.log & About to copy 80089 MBytes from /dev/sdc3 to /home/zwilson/sdc3.img Starting positions: infile = 0 B, outfile = 0 B Copy block size: 128 hard blocks Hard block size: 512 bytes Max_retries: 0 Direct: yes Sparse: no Split: no Truncate: no Press Ctrl-C to interrupt Initial status (read from logfile) rescued: 0 B, errsize: 0 B, errors: 0 Current status rescued: 31566 MB, errsize: 48523 MB, current rate: 47382 kB/s ipos: 31566 MB, errors: 1, average rate: 42309 kB/s opos: 31566 MB Finished 2nd Run: ddrescue -v -d -n --cluster-size=10 /dev/sdc3 ~zwilson/sdc3.img ~zwilson/sdc3_ddrescue_pass_2.log & Thanks, -Z |
