Heh, that's funny, I don't know much Perl either (not even enough to be
dangerous!).  In fact, I absolutely cannot stand Perl syntax (it's ugly as
all get-out).  But in all honesty, being designed specifically for text
parsing, Perl is ideally suited to the task.

Which is exactly why I said shell scripting was a pain!  Nobody in their
right mind would even think about trying to write a parser/text replacement
script using the Windows shell.  Nobody, that is, other than someone like
Tim Hill, author of "Windows NT Shell Scripting," although the
right-mindedness of someone who has actually written a book on the subject
might be called into question!
