Error encountered in commit operation

Hi,

I have a directory decoder having sub-directories inc/ and src/ .
I executed the following command and got the following output --

Command : cvs ci decoder/

Output :
cvs commit: Examining decoder/
cvs commit: Examining decoder//inc
cvs commit: Examining decoder//src
Protocol error: 'Directory' missingE protocol error: invalid directory
syntax in decoder/
cvs commit: saving log message in /tmp/cvsQYX1CH

I couldn't find a reference to this kind of error in cvs manual.
Also when I did commit of inc/ and src/ directories separately it was
successful.
Please comment.
