Whoops.  I goofed.  distcheck-hook didn't hang remotecheck quite where I wanted
it.  Anyone going to get very angry if I make remotecheck part of check and add 
a
localcheck target to do what check used to?

Anyway, I just did.  If anybody is really ticked, we can discuss backing it out,
but localcheck & remotecheck both now happen as part of distcheck.
