I could not find any hint to this name. Nowhere in the net and not in the PWB 
announcement for SCCS release 4 from 1977.

BTW: from SCCS v3 to SCCS v4, the old magic address@hidden was replaced by ^Ah.
It may be a good idea to intentionally break compatibility once there is 
support for released trees that will need a global lock that needs to be 
honored by any sccs command.

Well, the test suite I was probably using is the one from cssc-1.0 and there 
have been problems because you wrote a test suite for a sccs implementation 
that does not yet use getopt(), so your tests apply to something that is at 
least 20 years old. A getopt() based sccs needs -m '' instead of -m for empty 
MR numbers.
