sdc vs. sdb?
You wrote to a different disk.

Apart from that, there's not proof that this problem is related to dd(1).
As such, I'm marking this as "not a bug" in our bug tracker.  However. the
discussion can of course continue, and we could even re-open the issue once
it would - unlikely - turn out to be a dd(1) bug.
