It was a request for a sort of binary file option in csplit which uses bytes instead of lines as a delmiter instead of endlines, e.g. offsets are in bytes instead of lines.
Ah. Yes, I see it sitting there, from Jul 25. Unfortunately that's the nature of FLOSS, sometimes no one is interested (or has time to reply). You can always pay someone to implement it if you aren't willing/able to do it yourself, though (as I'm not a coreutils maintainer) I couldn't speak to if it would be accepted as an official addition or not.
Although, I wonder if dd might be able to do what you need? (I'm not very familiar with dd...)
Please turn off your caps lock and refrain from double-posting :-).Sorry about that. I thought the first one got rejected because it wasn't plain text. Gmail is doing the "caps lock" thing. I'll try to fix it.
I thought it might be something like that, hence the attempt at a friendly notice rather than a serious complaint. Hmm, bummer about gmail though (but your first mail - in this thread, I mean - was fine).
