No, I didn't have a copy easily available. I'd guess linecut would
run about 50-75% faster than mawk.

I doubt it, if all one gets is a 50-75% performance improvement. As
far as I can tell, the need for linecut isn't great enough to justify
the hassle of maintaining it.
